Welcome
Information Technology Fundamentals is a new course delivered by our school, the School of Computer and Information Science, based on the previous Fundamentals of Information Technology. It is a core course, which means that it accommodates a broad diversity of students with varied backgrounds and, indeed, varied delivery contexts. This diversity played a role in the configuration of the syllabus and assessment, we have provided opportunities for all students in the course, regardless of where they are located, to establish and extend scholarly abilities as well as theoretical knowledge.
The syllabus is informed by the ACM, AIS, and IEEE’s recommendations for undergraduate computer science curriculum and has been adapted to the specific requirements of your learning context by our school’s Advisory Board, its Program Directors and relevant academic staff. In this way, you are assured of a robust, well-considered curriculum, both in this course and in all courses delivered by our school.
We trust that you will find the course’s staff helpful and encouraging. However, if you have a suggestion for improving either the course or a particular staff member’s approach to teaching please inform us via the Course and Teaching evaluations that will be conducted towards the end of the Study Period.
We look forward to working with you in this interesting course over a productive and engaging study period. Best of luck with all your studies.
